ADAPT

A MODULAR CONNECTION SYSTEM CONCEPT

PROBLEM + RESEARCH

Electrical connectors are a standard daily functional requirement irrespective of industry. Although there are many many different options out there and a lot of companies manufacturing them, there seems to be no industry standard that pops into mind when we think about them.

It seems that there is limited innovation in the area and no trusted, standard brand that one refers to.

The following images were taken on in industry visit to a local factory – it was evident that there was no consistency or formal process in choosing the connectors – it was completely random.

WeWire develops and produces customized wire harnesses worldwide. Their core competencies include : interdisciplinary concept development and implementation, advanced engineering, and systems specialization.

With this project, the goal was to implement their core competencies in an innovative fashion to expand their portfolio outside of the transportation industry.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Over the next few weeks, we dove deep into research and ideation as a group to understand all the ways we could integrate the company's strengths to diversify them in different fields.

We had multiple rounds of expanding our ideation and then narrowing it down to a concept, and then repeating that process.

FINAL CONCEPT

A line of modular connectors that can be used across industry
